Tweak the Toolkit and Win

Send us your GHG reduction Success Story and your community will be entered to win an Idle-Free sign!

Communities across British Columbia are taking climate action. There are several examples in our list of Success Stories on this site.

Let's continue to learn from what is already being done. From solar-powered circulators to entire community energy plans there are many examples to learn from.

We would like to hear your community's story.

Send an email to info@toolkit.bc.ca and let us know:

  • The name of your community and its successful project,
  • How staff, council, and the community were engaged,
  • What policies, regulations or legislations enabled or constrained the project,
  • What the key social, economic, and environmental outcomes, both quantitative & qualitative were. eg. dollar per tonne of GHGs reduced, return on investment, energy saved, shift in transportation patterns
  • Your name, title, department, and phone number.

About the Prize

There are several programs that provide toolkits to help communities initiate an idle-free campaign like Idle Free BC and Idle Free Zone.Idle-free initiatives are a straightforward and cost-effective action that local governments can immediately take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. When a vehicle’s engine is turned off instead of idling, not only does this reduce GHG emissions, but saves fuel as well.

With a new sign beside bridges, pedestrian areas or bike routes, drivers will remember to turn off their engine and help the community breath easier. Find out more at: http://www.idlefreebc.ca.
