FCM: Green Municipal Bylaw Collection

In 2009, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) undertook a one-of-a-kind project to capture and share excellent green bylaws, policies and procedures from large and small municipalities across Canada.

In the first nation-wide call for submissions, they collected over 100 examples. Communities from coast to coast to coast have continued to share their efforts with FCM - the Municipal Sustainable Bylaws Collection now boasts almost 170 excellent green bylaws, policies and procedures and is still growing.

This collection provides a variety of excellent initiatives implemented by small and large Canadian municipalities in each sector of municipal activity supported by GMF:

• brownfields
• energy
• transportation
• waste
• water
• multi-sector (these bylaws, policies and procedures address more than one sector)
