Sustainability & Sewage Tour: Innovations on Vancouver Island
Please join other land use, engineering, economic development, and waste and water resource professionals as we visit some ‘unconventional’ sewage treatment technologies in the Mid-Island area.
While site details are still being finalized, we plan to see waterless toilets, a package plant at a First Nation community, a solar aquatic system serving 46 homes, and constructed wetlands. The designers of the solar aquatic and of the constructed wetlands systems will meet us onsite for in-depth explanations.

- Easier siting due to aesthetics & odour control
- Energy & cost reduction for transporting sewag
